I know how difficult it is for a wandering heart and a mountain lover to be stuck at home without being able to go to the Mountains. Even though the situations don’t allow you to do what you love the most, below are some of the best movies/documentaries based on the mountains, tracing the stories and journeys of mountaineers, trekkers, and explorers. If not physically, you can at least feel the mountains virtually.

Here is a curated list of movies that I've personally loved and it's also available to watch for free online.

  1. The story of Apa Sherpa. who climbed Mount Everest 21 times| Short Film

Sherpas are known as the heroes of Mount Everest. They fix your ropes and they carry your camping stuff. This short film is the story of Apa Sherpa who was miraculously found alive after being hit by an avalanche at the age of 3 months. He has climbed Mount Everest 21 times.

  1. Into the wild

This is my favorite and chances are you must have already watched this movie but if you haven’t, this should be your next movie. It is the story of Christopher McCandless who abandons all his possessions and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wild. Every minute of this movie will keep you from blinking your eye. This movie takes you through the extraordinary experiences of backpacking and the hardships of some wrong decisions. This movie will also motivate you to do what you love and prioritize things in your life and with the beautiful end message “Happiness is real, Only when shared”.
