Kayak For Occassional Trips: You go onoccasional and/or short trips(from 1 hour to 1/2 day and at most 300 m from land) and in calm weather.

You need comfort and stability.

Choose awide and flat kayak model.

Kayak for Regular Trips: You go onlong trips(from 1/2 day to 1 day and from 300 m to 2 nautical miles from land).

You need good glide quality.

Choose along and tapered kayak model.

Fishing Kayak: You go on fishing trips in lakes, calm rivers or on the sea(at most 300 m from land).

You need comfort,stability and storage capacity.

3. Depending on its Compactness

There are rigid kayaks and inflatable kayaks.

The advantage of an inflatable kayak is that it fits in a backpack and thus can be transported in a car boot.

A rigid kayak will be stronger, more stable but more space-consuming. So you will need roof bars to transport it.
