Sreyashi Ghosh is an experienced Yoga practitioner and a Decathlon Play partner. Here's how she fell in love with Yoga, going from being a practitioner to a teacher. "We wake up, get out of bed, brush our teeth, it all comes naturally to us. Starting my day with Yoga feels just as natural to me, and is a part of my life. Were it not for an ACL injury, I may have been practicing gymnastics instead of yoga though." - Sreyashi

"I've been practicing gymnastics since I was 3 years old. My father has been a passionate swimmer in his time, and he encouraged me to pursue my passion for sports too. I would practice with chairs and tables back then as jugaad."

Bouncing back up

"I learned under coach Subir Maitra at Sonarpur Gymnasium. I was lucky to have such an amazing coach guide me. Over time, I worked on balance beams, uneven bar, vaulting horse and floor exercises. With practice, I got to represent my school Sonarpur Vidyapith, and the West Bengal junior team. It was a proud moment for me to get to perform at a high level. But an ACL injury resulting in surgery all but ended my gymnastics career."

"It was difficult for me to give up on a passion, the rehab process was slow as well. But that's what led me to yoga. In gymnastics, we work a lot to improve our flexibility, strength, and stamina. It translated well to Yoga for me. I also worked a regular 9 to 5 job, but yoga always called to me."

"It's very fulfilling to see people get fitter through yoga and fitness."

"I got a diploma in Diploma in Yoga and Naturopathy from Uttarakhand Open University and started teaching. I've taught people of all ages and physiques at Song of woods - House of SOW, Fusion Step, and other studios. It is very fulfilling to see people get fitter, overcome ailments, and enjoy life to the fullest with a healthier lifestyle."

"Yoga is an ongoing journey, it does not stop with certificates or milestones. I love to continuously challenge myself and I'm always excited about where my journey will take me. Yoga has taught me that setbacks are just opportunities for you to bounce back stronger."- Sreyashi.
