“The finer the bait, the shorter the wait!”

Your fishing rod and tackle box is ready, but you are not sure about what bait to use to catch fish? The answer to this question depends primarily on which water body you choose for fishing! The lake, the pond, the sea or the ocean?

Using an appropriate bait will lead to an excellent fishing trip irrespective of you being a starter or a professional. Speaking from personal experience, I can say that it is not a very pleasant feeling to go home after a fishing trip with absolutely no fish. It has demotivated me one too many times but it also made me figure out that baits matter a lot and I wish to impart this knowledge to others too!Fishing baits

1. Baits are categorised into freshwater baits and salt water baits.

Different kinds of fish bite on different baits. Some baits, however, work best in saltwater while others are most suitable for fishing in freshwater.

2. Baits by definition mean something edible for a fish and should never be confused with lures.

Lures are a form of bait, however, they are not edible and are mostly made of plastic or metal. I hope at this point it’s fair to assume that you have the right rod and the reel in this regard and have picked your destination.fishing baits

3. It’s important to know the major bait categories.

The best bait for fishing all type of fishes is the universal bait! There are many alternatives which can be broadly categorised as artificial and live.

4. Use night crawlers as baits if you’re fishing in freshwater.

Night crawlers can be used in many ways. They can be put as a whole or cut in half. The other advantage of using night crawlers as baits is that they can be used to catch various types of fish such as trout, bass, catfish and carp.

5. Go for live baits like earthworms, squids and crayfish.

These baits are abundant and you won’t have a difficult time finding them. They are very effective and will ultimately provide you with an excellent fishing experience.

6. Common bait fish.
